Our Common Threads - Stitch Social

As part of the Refugee Week activities around Huddersfield Piazza, we're hosting a special Stitch Social to celebrate stitching from different cultures around the world.

Time & Location

22 Jun 2024, 12:00 – 15:00

Thread Republic, The Piazza Centre, Unit 42-44 Princess Alexandra Walk, Huddersfield HD1 2RS, UK

About the event

As part of the Refugee Week 2024, there are several activities around Huddersfield Piazza along the theme of 'Home, Our Home'.  We're hosting a special Stitch Social to celebrate stitching from different cultures around the world, exploring the ways in which textiles is a universal language and the 'common threads' which unite us.

This is not a taught session, but we will provide scrap fabric, needles, threads and scissors for you to have a go at some stitching inspired by motifs from different cultures.

Venue: our Textiles Hub, in Huddersfield Piazza.

Refreshments: tea and coffee available from the lounge area.

Cost:  FREE.

We are a social enterprise, so if you have the means, please consider making a donation of £2 to help us cover our running costs.

Accessibility:  The space has level access, however the toilets are upstairs.
