VOLUNTEER
We are always keen to hear from individuals who would be interested in helping out at our Textiles Community Hub in central Huddersfield. The Hub contains a textile Scrap Store, retailing a range of second-hand fabric & haberdashery items, alongside products from our Circular Textiles range donated by local mills - including mending yarn and T-shirt yarn. We also host monthly Stitch Socials and facilitate a broad range of creative textile workshops in the space.

Your time, input and ideas would be greatly appreciated to help us run this space for the local textiles community between 10.30am - 3.30pm, Thursday, Friday and Saturday each week.
As a Thread Republic Volunteer, activities during an average shift might include -

-
Customer service - chatting to visitors, answering questions, taking workshop bookings etc
-
Helping out with workshop prep - putting together resources and materials to set up for an upcoming class
-
Retail - cutting & folding lengths of fabric from the scrap store, processing sales through our POS system
-
Engaging visitors with the topic of sustainable fashion/textiles
-
Sorting donations for the Textile Scrap Store and stock-keeping - this might involve categorising items, pricing, merchandising etc
-
General housekeeping - helping us keep the shop and store-room clean, neat and tidy
-
Winding our t-shirt yarn into balls to sell in the shop
-
Creating textile samples to display in the shop window or around the space

Front of house and back of house opportunities are available for individuals but we are also interested in corporate volunteering groups. Full training will be provided. There is no expectation for regular weekly shifts and we can be very flexible in order to suit your availability.
If you're interested in volunteering, get in touch via the form below and we can send you an application form. Alternatively, if you have any questions, you can discuss with a member of our team by emailing info@threadrepublic.co.uk.
