We are a Mend Assembly affiliate...
Along with Stitch Department (Ryde, Isle of Wight), we are part of the Mend Assembly (Totnes, Devon) group of affiliates. Each group takes a local approach, working in our communities to offer alternatives to clothing consumption, use and disposal. Our shared knowledge will enable us to collaborate, explore and implement solutions to address issues of textile waste, lack of basic sewing and mending skills and clothing over-consumption.

Thread Republic provides textiles workshops, events and socials aimed at enhancing well-being through creativity whilst also engaging the local community with the topic of sustainability. We believe in circular solutions. By celebrating the art of making, repair and repurposing we can ensure pieces stay in our lives for longer to be cherished and used frequently.
We also believe in the power of sewing to uplift, inspire and connect. Our sessions use the medium of stitch to bring people together, dissolve barriers and create a catalyst for meaningful discussion on a wide range of topics. Our community activities aim to help combat feelings of isolation, negative self-talk and low self-esteem by building confidence in a fun, non-judgemental environment where the focus is on the enjoyment of the creative process.
