WHO ARE WE?
Thread Republic was founded in 2022 by four Kirklees-based textile practitioners - Holly Carr, Julia Roebuck, Kim Searle and Nicola Thompson. We were brought together by a shared love for textiles and a desire to bring people together around the topics of enhancing sustainability in the industry and greater well-being in our local communities through shared creativity. In 2024 Nicola left the director team but remains a strong supporter of Thread Republic's work. In 2025 Costume student Jas Legg-Jones joined us on a university placement, they fitted in so well that they joined us as a director in 2026!
