Sustainable Fashion September 2026
We are very excited have received funding from One Community to deliver our most ambitious programme for Sustainable Fashion Week 2026, extending the activities throughout the month, creating: Sustainable Fashion September!
It will bring together a programme of workshops, stitch socials, school assemblies and more throughout September 2026 as Thread Republic returns for the third year as the Huddersfield Hub for the national action: Sustainable Fashion Week.

THREAD REPUBLIC FABRIC SHOP & HABERDASHERY
The Thread Republic Shop returns for 12 days in September!
(Due to the limited space we have within Makerworld we are not accepting textile donations at this time)
Open: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout September. 10.30am - 3.30pm.

CLOTHES SWAP & REPAIR
Saturday 12 September
Bring up to 10 items of good quality clothing and swap for new-to-you items in the Packhorse Centre walkway outside Makerworld. FREE. Saturday 12 September. 11am - 2pm. We will also have textile repair volunteers at the Huddersfield Repair Cafe for a textile special at S2R in Huddersfield on Saturday 12 September, 11am - 3pm.
OXFAM NORTHERN LOGISTICS CENTRE TOUR

A tour of the northern sorting and logistics hub for Oxfam,home of their festivals and ecommerce team in Batley, North Kirklees.

In collaboration with Electric Theatre Cinema. The documentary follows the story of fashion designer Amy Powney who is on a mission to create a sustainable collection from field to finished garment and transform the way we engage with fashion. 2022 (12A). Bar provided by Zapato.
HIGH SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES AND TEXTILE SPOTLIGHT SESSIONS
Visiting 4 high schools in and around Huddersfield to spotlight sustainability, textiles and local opportunities for training, skills, education and careers in textiles and fashion.
TEACHER CPD: CLOTHES SWAPS IN SCHOOL
Online CPD session for primary and high school staff looking to organise clothes swapping events in school.
KIRKLEES CIRCULAR TEXTILES DIRECTORY
A map of all locations across Kirklees that support a circular economy for residents, from repair businesses to alteration specialists, clothes swap and laundry services. Mapped together for the first time to raise awareness of and engagement with garment longevity.
