About the event

Night on the Knit2 is a collaboration between WOVEN in Kirklees & Thread Republic, offering an opportunity to explore sustainable knitting, from how to repair your much loved knit wear to how can you make your yarn bombing more sustainable.

The evening will include workshops and insights from two of our founders -

A knitwear repair workshop with Kim:

Learn how to repair your knitted garments with a variety of heritage darning techniques. This technique is the perfect way to preserve the clothes you love, prolonging the life of your garments while being a mindful and relaxing technique. This will include an introduction to different darning tools, needles and materials. We'll look at both traditional darning which aims to blend in and hide the repair and visible mending, a more modern approach where the repair process is highlighted and celebrated in a creative way. Swatches of knitted material will be available to work on, but you're welcome to bring your own knitted pieces to repair.

How to knit more sustainably with Julia:

If you want to learn more about using our T-shirt yarn, bring your 10/12mm needles and we can gift you a ball of our yarn. Julia will take you through the creative ways you can use this .

We will also be taking about sustainable yarn bombing . We know that the towns and villages of Kirklees lead the way in yarn bombing, and WOVEN is excited to see what will be on the map this year. But how can we make yarn bombing more sustainable ? We want your ideas and thoughts - let's share our inspirations and skills!

The event is open to hobby knitters, yarn bombers , students and professionals. We hope to have a real mix on the night to encourage lots of great sharing of ideas.

Tickets: this is a free event, but you can reserve your place here.

Healthy & Safety: during the workshop, everyone  will have their own materials and tools. Sanitiser and disinfectant will  be available. If you feel unwell please let us know and stay home.

The space has level access. However, the toilet is down a few sets of stairs.
