About the event
This free workshop is designed for beginners with an interest in fashion, textiles, pattern cutting, and garment construction. Suitable for all skill levels.
Join Debbie Allsop, Lecturer in Fashion Design at the University of Huddersfield, for a hands-on workshop introducing the fundamentals of flat pattern cutting, dart manipulation, and the principles of Zero Waste pattern design.
All materials and equipment will be provided.
Venue: Makerworld, Packhorse Shopping Centre, Huddersfield
Refreshments: Biscuits, teas and coffees provided
Accessible: The space is level access with a bathroom nearby accessible by a lift.
Cost: This workshop is funded so we're able to offer it at a very low price point. Your £5 ticket will be reimbursed with a £5 Thread Republic voucher.

Debbie Allsop is a Lecturer in Fashion Design at the University of Huddersfield,
teaching pattern cutting, garment manufacture, CAD, and textiles for fashion.
Alongside her university role, she works as a freelance fashion and textiles tutor,
delivering workshops in community settings. Her practice focuses on pattern cutting,
clothing construction, and sustainable approaches to fashion education that help
preserve traditional skills and inspire future careers in the industry. Debbie has
experience teaching across all educational levels, as well as adult and community
learning programmes, and is passionate about making fashion and textile skills
accessible, inclusive, and engaging for all.
